What is a Non-Profit?
A non-profit, or non profit organization is a group, unlike a business, that doesn't operate to acquire profit (like a restaurant business or retail) but rather raises awareness about a particular cause or supports communities in need. Non-profits can range from causes like helping to reverse climate change, supporting minorities, raising awareness about disease and fundraising towards research, to helping save endangered species and beyond! Non-profits operate on the donations and support of their communities and generous benefactors. Because of this, non-profits are pretty frequently in need of fundraisers and the generosity of others.
Non-Profit Fundraising Ideas
There are many creative any cost efficient ways to put on a successful non-profit fundraiser and have fun in the process! Here are some of our non-profit fundraising ideas you can use to reach your goals!
Fundraiser Partnerships
A simple way for non-profits to get extra funding is by partnering with another company that does fundraisers! This is perfect for non-profits that don't have the funding or man-power to put on an event. For example, you can partner with us here at Sincerely Silver and we'll let you create a product catalog based on what you think your supporters will love from our collection, create a landing page for you, your own custom URL, and a 30% cut of each sale for your fundraiser! For ideas on what kind of jewelry you should add to your catalog, see our article here.

Social Sharing
Another money conscious way of raising funds for your non-profit fundraiser, is social sharing! Create a online fundraiser with websites like GoFundMe, Kickstarter, Indiegogo and more! Simply create your fundraiser with an educational description of who you are, what you're raising money for, and why your audience should support your cause. Then be sure to share it on all social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and whatever else you have accounts on. Create short videos and stories to grab your audiences attention, create a hashtag, even boost posts so that more people are likely to see it. Create online forums, groups, pages, whatever will help spread the word. Then, see the results come in!
Marathon/Obstacle Race
Marathons, Fun Runs, and Obstacle Races are a great way to bring your community together for a fun day and a simple way to reach your fundraising goals! Have your supporters pay an admission fee to run the race, or have them pledge a certain amount of money for every mile they run etc... the rules are up to you! Really entice your audience by adding a touch of creativity! Send out a memo that this is a themed race and they have to wear something like leis and hula skirts, or all pink, or if its Halloween time, a costume they can run in! (Zombie run anyone??) Be sure to share all you can about the race on all your available social media outlets too!
Amateur Film Festival
Calling all amateur filmmakers! For your non-profit fundraiser, host an amateur film festival! Either present it as a viewing party or make it competition! Charge a submission fee for all contestants and then an entry fee for everyone attending. Ask for short film submissions from your contestants of any category or a particular theme! Set a deadline and be sure to share the event ahead of time to give potential filmmakers enough time to put together a project. Let everyone know where the money is going towards and even include a prize for the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winner! Grab some popcorn and a comfy seat and have fun!
Art Show
Similar to the amateur film festival mentioned above, why not host an amateur art show? Use social media platforms, fliers and email blasts to let your community know you're looking for artwork submissions for your art show. Since beauty is in the eye of the beholder, it doesn't have to be a competition. Charge admission for all who arrive and even provide food and drinks for your guests to acquire more funds towards your cause. Give your community the opportunity to share their talents, and if possible, make money off their artwork too!
Talent Show
For a night of music, dance, comedy, or anything else you can think of, host a community talent show as your non-profit fundraiser! Use social sharing to let your community know that they are welcome to audition for your fundraiser talent show! Singing, dancing, stand up comedy, poetry reading, short skits, maybe even a ball balancing dog! All are welcome here! Simply charge your contestants a small submission fee and then an entry fee at the door for your audience and let the fun begin! Encourage your community to be a part of the event by promising a 1st, 2nd and 3rd place prize. It can be anything from trophies to a small cash amount or gift cards to somewhere neat. Have fun!
Bake Sale/Lemonade Stand
For your non-profit fundraiser, bring your community together to host a bake sale/lemonade stand! Anything from homemade cupcakes, cookies, macaroons, cakes, you name it! Don't forget to add some nut and gluten free options as well! Hold your bake sale at a park or other big event where people will be sure to stop for a delicious cupcake or brownie or glass of fresh lemonade. Be sure to get any kind of license or permissions needed to host your bake sale/lemonade stand legally as some locations may ask you to leave if you solicit on their property. Make signs to let everyone know the money is going towards a good cause to make them more likely to make a purchase, or in some cases some people might not want a brownie but will still donate to your cause!
